[poem] Mixed Media On Paper
A slow wash.
Controlled, taking its time like a tide.
Almost unseen but not unnoticed.
The burgundy cloud creeps down the paper silently until dry ridges gather pools
Swirling in witch’s brews.
What spell cast made this painting?
What line, what ridge of paper made that curve?
Step away from up closeness
And see the whole.
Picture it, see it in miniature.
What will it look like on an iPhone?
What does it say to me?
Does it make your heart soar?
Do the clouds open to reveal your spirit?
That is for you. That is for you.
[skylark] I love painting
I love painting. I love the painting I’m doing. It’s mysterious but it’s showing its face. That’s what I like. Layers on layers. Something reveals, something hides its mask. The mystery peels and envelops itself like stop motion petals unfurling. Layers on layers. Then something to unify it that isn’t a dark colour.
[poem] Hatboxes On The Underground
Hatboxes On The Underground
I’m carrying hatboxes on the underground
Surrounded by women in summer frocks
Wondering what’s in them:
Floral delights or structured wonders?
Who for and why two?
Who are the lucky women going to don
These hats so large and so secretive?
Their eyes dreamed of events and fêtes in which to parade in lookatme hats.
Could I sneak a peek under the lid?
Could I be part of your event?
Take me to summer garden parties on clipped lawns
Where conversation bubbles like champagne on sweet tongues
And you can take my hand to help me cross the fiddly bits
I knew I shouldn’t have worn these silk heels on cobbled manor drives.
Take me away from the underground,
Let’s sit in the sun
[poem] Dancing
I dreamt last night that I was dancing,
Not in a club but on a stage.
And maybe I was good or maybe I was bad,
But I was dancing on a stage
With a bright light that lit the floor
And made the sprung wood seem like gold.
In the spaces in between breaths I was flying.

[poem] Moon, Stars, Sea, Sand, Blue.
Moon, Stars, Sea, Sand, Blue
It is under the moon and stars
It is in the deep blue
Where this pearl reveals itself:
You have found your heart,
You have found your soulmate
And everyone can see the specialness.
At weddings we say goodbye to children, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters
And welcome sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, husband, wife, children
And celebrate your union, as friends and family.
Every union is unique,
Every footstep is newly printed in the sand,
Every corner a fresh view in the snow.
If the landscape should become harsh,
Take slow steps, watch.
Watch for beauty. It comes abundantly if you let it.
Remember those that guide:
Those that have taken similar paths;
Those that step, hand in hand, on their own paths –
Catch each other when they falter,
Hold the other high when the mystery is too deep.
We have seen it in one marriage,
We have felt it strong in another.
And when you can see your years together
Know that we, your friends and family, have been with you,
Guiding from the moon and stars
Supporting you like a boat in the blue
As you make your footsteps in the sand.
Mond, Sterne, Meer, Sand, Blue
Und willkommen Schwestern, Brüder, Töchter, Söhne, Ehemann, Ehefrau, Kinder;
macht langsame Schritte, beobachtet.
Bulan, Bintang, Laut, Pasir, Biru
Jika landskap menjadi sukar,
Ambil langkah-langkah perlahan, memperhatikan.
Memperhatikan untuk kecantikan. Ia kemari dengan banyaknya jika anda membiarkannya.
Ingatkan panduan orang:
Menyokong satu sama lain apabila mereka terjatuh,
Menyokong anda seperti bot atas kebiruan
Bila anda membuat jejak langkah bersama-sama di pasir.
