[poem] Boy On The Train


The boy with the world on his shoulders,
Bore-holes for eyes
Tired cotton trousers grip strong legs
Feet that have been through hell,
Lifted to let a bent mother pass
With her pram, bumping into the central pole behind her,
And he smiled at a baby.
